30 years of Wood Preservation et al.
The website for information on the ATICS party
26th September 2006
Well it is all done and dusted and thank you for coming.
Party photos are on eliotgeorge i.e. on THIS WEBSITE
Go to events, then parties, then chris george’s 60th
you will find entrance photos
and
ALLOW PLENTY OF TIME FOR THE WHOLE PAGE TO DOWN LOAD BEFORE YOU TRY TO OPEN A FRAME. Check the bottom by scrolling down to see if it is all filled.
If you would like a free CD of the complete set of photos, you have just under 14 days to email me to say that you would and I will arrange for one to be sent to you at expense of ATICS Ltd. If you wish to purchase a normal photo the magnificent facilities of eliotgeorge are at your disposal on their normal terms.
Now, I would like to thank you all for coming and making this such a fun occasion particularly those that came from the other side of the globe not to mention Yorkshire or the like! One problem still remains. I have two bottles of champagne the donors of which were not identified (or were with cards which got lost), one is Moet et Chandon (in a silver bag) and the other Veuve Cliquot (in an orange box). They can be seen on this website link. If you have not had a “thank you” letter from me, it is because I don’t know who you are and would like to!
30th August 2006
Went yesterday to select the the canapes and finger food and finalise numbers at 224. Anyone now cancelling, let me know please, and thus it may be possible to accomadate a few of the 60 plus persons who have failed to respond at all to one or two diary date warning emails, followed by a hard copy invitation and a supplementary chase-up email, all between 27th July and 21st August. Perhaps they were so used to binning my emails on water safety….
22/08/2006 200+ acceptances as “entries closed” last night but I kept 20 spare places for those that were on holiday for the whole of August and were not able to respond due to absence. First come – first served. I can now start organising the catering and guest list – that is when I am not over at Dorney on Fire and Emergency Coordination! 0700 start at Dorney is NOT good for the digestion!
15/8/2006 – 0ne month to go to the party and six days until invites close on the 21st August for the purpose of catering as stated on the writen invite. If you have not had your written invite, let me know
4th August UPDATE
Great news – the live group has been booked. There are six of them and specialise in jazz / soul.
3/8/2006
As of last Friday a venue has been found Adam Street
It is as described below.
The evening starts at 7.30 /8.00 and licence is till 3 am if you are really hardy.
Drinks, canapes and live music followed by golden oldies on the club sound system
It would help enormously with the numbers if you were able to indicate by email if you know whether or not you are coming.
From an email sent in late July
Dear All,
The purpose of this email is to ask you to check your diary for Friday, September 15th 2006 and, if possible, to keep it free pending receiving a formal invitation to join me to celebrate a variety of anniversaries, the most important of which, since ATICS is footing most of the bill, is “30 years in Wood Preservation”.
I was on the cusp of sending out nice, hard copy invitations when my chosen venue became unavailable so, rather than wait until I had found a suitable alternative and then send it and chance missing out on some company with a late invite, it seemed sensible to give you electronic ‘advance notice’ pending the formal invitation.
Some of you are abroad in Australia, Canada or even, perhaps, Ireland and are invited on the off-chance of your being here in London perhaps visiting relatives but, if not, you are most welcome if you fancy coming over for the weekend! Some of de Oirish are pre-warned and I know are coming over for the weekend – regardless (and I will never forgive you if you are not here! GJ & SS for a kick off!). For the Irish that cannot come – Fear not! the second Sat in October is for you in sunny Islandbridge…. where, after I have done the Dublin Sculling Ladder Trial (40th anniversary), some entertainment will be organoized!
As ever wishful,
Chris
